Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can apply for an internship?

All students enrolled in Munich can apply for an internship at IAESTE LC Munich. We provide internships mainly for students with a technical or scientific background. But also students with other fields of studies are welcome to apply. However, we can not guarantee to find a suitable internship for everybody. Students enrolled at other universities please contact their responsible local comitee.

  • Which requirements do I have to meet for an IAESTE internship?

Applicants are expected to have finished either the third semester of a Bachelor or their pre-diploma. Furthermore, the requirements for a specific internship should be fulfilled. You need to be enrolled during your internship.

  • How and when can I get an internship through IAESTE?

Every student who submits a pre-application until the 30th of November will be considered for the distribution of internships end of February. The internships take place between May and the following April. Please note, that IAESTE only provides internship offers. In the end, the decision about the applicant’s acceptance is always up to the employers.

  • Do I get money for my work during the internship?

All IAESTE internships are paid. The salaries conform to the standards of the companies and should at least cover the basic living expenses. In comparison: IAESTE trainees working in Germany currently earn at least 650 Euro per month. Additionally, you can request support for the flight.

  • What do I have to pay for the IAESTE service?

In Germany the IAESTE program is financed by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).
You have to pay a security deposit of 150 Euro when you accept a job offer. The deposit will be refunded after you finished your internship or if your employer rejected your application through no fault of your own. Also we have a preparation seminar which will cost you 15 Euro.

  • Why do I have to give you a security deposit of 150 Euro?

To be sure that the applicant is definitely interested in completing the offered internship we take a security deposit of 150 Euro plus a service charge of 15 Euro. This is important to ensure that the internship will be occupied since there is usually just one applicant for each job offer.

  • I did not submit a pre-application, can I still get an internship offer?

There is still an international IAESTE database with internships on short call. These places can be accessed worldwide and they can be quickly assigned. Please also note that this list, for privacy reasons, does not contain all the employer information. For more information or if you are interested in a place, please write an Email to! Then we can try to reserve a place for you. The places are conveyed directly to candidates without a pre-application.

  • Why is the company name missing on the job offer?

To protect the company we don’t publish some details (e.g. name, address) about the company. This is important to avoid any additional work for your future employers. When you are asked to accept the job offer and pay the security deposit, we will give you all information about the employer that you need to complete your application.

  • Can I join the LC Munich?

Of course! We are happy about every interested student who wants to join our activities. Besides the distribution of internship offers to students we have several other tasks. Besides, having fun is priority. And you can do everything easily during your studies! • Is there a minimum stay for the internship?
